The term “future music” is used in a figurative sense for projects whose realization lies in the future. For this exhibition, works were selected that, on the basis of different content, move in the visionary realm and bring image and sound into an audio-visual interplay. The musical compositions and the noises or the sound, appear in the works as equal partners of the pictures. They stimulate, complement, (over)enhance or contrast the images, or condition them. The photographic works are also either combined with sound, or they awaken associative sounds in the mind. Hearing sounds leads to an altered reception of images, just as seeing images influences the perception of sound. Curated by Petra Noll-Hammerstiel and Michael Michlmayr
